Sophie Didn't Heed The Warning
Bruce Von Stiers
One bright and sunny day, a young woman named Sophie takes a walk in the woods. What she encounters in the woods will change her life forever.
Sophie is the lead character in a horror film titled The Whisper.
On her walk, Sophie sees some writing on a tree trunk. Then she hears a noise and looks down. There is a journal on the ground. Sophie picks it up and browses through the pages. Strange writings and a nefarious warning are in the journal. Then she hears someone, or something, whispering to her.
Later, Sophie walks up a path to an ominous, abandoned looking building. She goes in and, well, she shouldn't have.
Ivisita Ivanova starred in the film as Sophie.
Teddy Nikolova and Miroslav Petkov wrote the screenplay. Nikolova directed the film and has directed other short films, including the thriller, Panic Room. Petkov directed the short horror film, Drums, and several others.
The Whisper is a bit strange, but interesting. First, why is Sophie walking in the woods? Is she out exploring, seeking to just clear her head, walking from place to place, or something else entirely? Secondly, as an easy horror trope, Sophie enters a seemingly abandoned building. Why? You would have thought that Sophie knew better than go into a decrepit building by herself. Especially as there was an explicit warning in that journal. A normal person would have turned and ran back from where they came. But what fun would that have been? I guess the idea was that Sophie was an innocent who didn't heed the warning and got herself into a situation.
The Whisper has won a few awards, including Best Director at the Madras Independent Film Festival and Best Actress In A Short Film at the Kollywood International Film Festival.
