Sizzling Sim Dates

Bruce Von Stiers

The Sims is a real hot property. So hot in fact, that EA Games has released several expansion packs for the top selling game. One of these expansion packs is The Sims: Hot Date.

This expansion pack will now allow your Sims characters to go out on dates and more romantically interact with other characters. According to some of the information that the designers gave out, the expansion pack will measure relationships on a daily and a lifetime rating. The daily rating has a direct impact on the lifetime relationship rating, so it is essential to keep monitoring the relationships between characters.

Mood plays a lot into Hot Date as well. If you have a Sim that is getting all sexy for someone else, it might not be the right time or place for it to happen. Something bad might have happened in the life of the recipient, so their mood might not be as great toward receiving attention. And in the case of married couples, it could play out that he wants to have some fun and she’d rather watch television. Just like real life, right? (Guys who have been married for a while know exactly what I’m talking about).

In Hot Date, there are now several new downtown areas to have your Sims go to. Find a nice restaurant to take a date to. There will be strolling musicians to make the ambiance better. But be careful of the conversation. If one Sim on the date finds the other one boring, or if their interests don’t jibe, then the date can become a disaster. Again, just like real life.

Some of the new social interactions that come with Hot Date include Intimate, Encourage, Sweet Talk, Nag About Friends and Hug – Leap Into Arms. There are also interactions like the “hot” Passionate Kiss.

The expansion pack has over 100 new objects that are loaded as items that are obtainable by your Sims. There are things like the English Garden Swing for romantic outdoor interludes. The “Light My Fire” BBQ is nice to have for parties that get people together.

The best object is the Niagara Love Tub. If your Sim is lucky enough to bring someone home with them on a date, use the Love Tub. But if things go too far, the date may leave rather abruptly.

The essence of the expansion pack is to take your Sims characters to a different level. You will find out how well they interact with the opposite sex while on a date. If your Sim is smooth, then the date is successful. If you take things to fast, or say or do the wrong things, then a drink thrown in your face will be the least of your worries.

Hot Date has also added a few new Non-Player Characters or NPC’s. These include The Waiter, The Bartender and the Partier. Watch out for The Hottie; this one could get you into trouble.

Hot Date is a juicy morsel for those Sims players who are looking to take character relationships to another level. Think you might want to have a studly Sim who gets all the girls? Then take him out on a Hot Date. Want to see some restaurants and cool places for your Downtown? Hot Date has these and more. It is a lot of fun and you don’t even have to pick up the check, just pay for the game.

Hot Date requires you to have a copy of The Sims in order to play it.

Look for Hot Date at your local retailer. My local Best Buy store had all of the Sims titles grouped together, so you might be able to find a copy at yours.
