I just read a book from a new publisher, GreyCore Press. This book has three stories about middle-aged women and their passion. The name of the book is The Queen Of Hearts: Tales Of Middle-Aged Passion and the author is Millie Crace-Brown.
The first story in the book is called The Queen Of Hearts. In this story we meet Rosie Campbell. She is a housewife who dotes on her husband Frank and son Jason. One day Frank comes home and tells Rosie that he's moving out; He has fallen in love with his secretary. Rosie is devastated. What will she do now?
Through a series of events, Rosie reinvents herself. She gets a job, loses a bunch of weight and ends up with two boyfriends. All through this change, Frank thinks she is still the woman he left. Not hardly. The demise of the old Rosie and the birth of the new portrayed her as a woman who could truly rise from the ashes of a broken marriage and thrive again.
The second story from the book is titled The Queen Of Diamonds. Lina Wolff is a lonely woman. She has lost her husband in an accident. Now she has cancer and endures the rigors of chemotherapy. Her friends try to help her out and even try to fix her up with men. This is never successful. Then Lina meets Harry.
Harry is a drunk. He likes Lina and she likes him. Her friends think that he is just after her money. Lina makes up some things about herself to make it seem like she is poor and that the house and car that she has is borrowed. Harry and Lina enjoy a somewhat uneven companionship.
This story demonstrates that a person can find friendship and even develop a relationship in the most unlikely circumstances.
The last story in The Queen Of Hearts is called Me And Bobby DiNiro Out In Front Of The BabaLand. This story is about a woman who becomes obsessed with the possibility of Robert DiNiro buying a home in the area. Rita normally takes a backseat to her husband Tick, but as she obsesses about Bobby DiNiro coming into the neighborhood, something about her changes. Rita comes out of her self-imposed shell and asserts herself in a way that Tick had never seen. This makes for some difficult times for old Tick.
The Queen Of Hearts: Tales Of Middle-Aged Passion has stories that will tug at your heartstrings and make you want more of the same. Millie Crace-Brown really hits the mark with these truly passionate tales of slightly older women.
The Queen Of Hearts: Tales Of Middle-Aged Passion has a publication date of May 2000.
