Ileana’s Love

Bruce Von Stiers

With the wider acceptance of Latin music, it is not surprising that it has traveled into the world of Contemporary Christian music. One breakout artist in the Latin segment of Christian music is Ileana Garces. Her debut album is called Dare To Love. It was produced for One Voice Records and distributed by Provident Music Distribution.
Dare To Love was released to the Latin market under the title El Amor Tien Un Valor.

Dare To Love has 13 songs on it. 11 of these are done in English and the last two are Spanish versions of earlier songs on the album. The album was produced by Alvaro Lopez., who also handled the voice and music arrangements. Some of the artists that provided their talents on the album are Pepe Hernandez, Jaime de la Parra and Carlos Garcia.

The first song is No More Loneliness. Unfortunately it begins much like a Britney Spears song. That is the only detracting thing about this song. It has a strong dance beat, Ileana singing that “in his truth and faithfulness, there’ll be no more loneliness.”

The second song is Disposable. This song is also a dance beat tune, with Ileana singing of not having disposable love, only believing “in love that can’t be bought or sold.”

What’s Up? is the third track on the album. In this song, Ileana reminds me of Gloria Estaban. This song speaks to the person who hasn’t yet found God.

The fourth song is the title track, Dare To Love. It is telling a person to love even though things are tough and people are trampling all over you.

Worth It is a light and airy song about the love of God and how worthy the results are for taking risks in your faith. Searching is also a light song that deals with a person searching for unending love.

I Think Of You starts the dance music once again on the album. Resting In Your Arms is a little Jazzy tune. I Can Imagine is how to think about meeting God and how great it will be.

I Can’t Forget You is good dance tune that deals with not being able to forget God once you have become a person of faith. Looking Back has a real good instrumental intro. This song is about God’s acceptance and forgiveness of our sins.

Valdira La Pena is the Spanish version of Worth It and Pro Buscar Amor is the Spanish version of Searching.

Dare To Love is a good album to direct at both the youth dance and the Latin music markets. The album has a pretty strong message mixed in the dance music. Ileana has a wonderful voice and will probably be bringing a lot of people closer to God through her music.

Look for Dare To Love at your local Christian retailer.
