A First Read For Harley

Bruce Von Stiers

Going along with a book on learning the Internet, Harley Hahn just put out a quick, down and dirty little volume. The title of this pocket-sized book is called Harley Hahn's Read Me First Guide To The Internet. The subtitle of the book is Real Answers To Important Questions. The book was published by Que Corporation.

When I said that the book was pocket-sized, I meant it. It measures 4 inches by 4 inches and only has 124 pages. It can fit in a pants pocket or a purse.

So what does this little book contain? It has some very quick and direct answers to the most often asked questions about the Internet. There are 8 chapters that include a glossary and some places to start surfing the Internet.

The first chapter is called What Is The Internet And How Does It Work? Answers to questions like who can teach you how to use the Internet are given here. Also learn about what you Internet Service Provider (ISP) is supposed to be doing for you.

The second chapter deals with what the Internet really is and what it can do for you. Learn about electronic mail and that Spam on the Web is not something you eat. Chapter 3 teaches you about Internet addresses and the importance of a Domain name.

Other chapters answer questions about what you can find on the Internet and how to work with electronic mail. Also learn about safety procedures for romping around on the Internet.

The glossary has the most often used Internet buzz words. It has a description of what an image map is and things like a POP server.

If you want a pint-sized tutor on the Internet, grab a copy of this book. It has a lot of basic information about the Internet without getting caught up in too much detail.

Harley Hahn's Read Me First Guide To The Internet lists for $ 5.99. Look for it at your local bookstore.
