Bady’s Mission

Bruce Von Stiers

Ray Bady is supposed to be one of the most sought after drummer and drum programmer in Gospel and Contemporary Christian music. He has worked with performers like BeBe Winans, Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin. Now Ray has put out an album that showcases his songwriting and singing talents. The title of the album is Mission K.O.B. (Keep On Believing). The album was released by Gospo Centric Records.

This album is has touches of ’80’s style pop and the distinct influence of Marvin Gaye. As a matter of fact, Gaye’s Mercy, Mercy Me is one of the songs on this album.

The first song is Mission Statement. It is short and serves as intro to the rest of the album, by which Ray Bady is challenged to “tell a dying world about the risen savior.”

Livin’ This Kinda Life is the second track on the album. The singer has given up the secular life and is living for the Lord. The song has a strong backbeat that makes you want to tap your feet. There is some rap in the middle of the song.

Keep On Believin’ is a duet with Ray and his brother Percy, a top star in his own right.
It has some rich vocals between the two brothers in a song about people still believing in God.

The fourth song is the one I mentioned earlier, Mercy, Mercy Me. This is the best cover of the Marvin Gaye song that I have ever heard

The fifth entry on the album is an interlude where the artists read some fan mail. This is used as an intro to the next song, Simple Things This song tells about how thankful we should be for the simple things in life that we have. It has some wonderful background vocals from Jori Henton-Hazel, Icelina Eliot and Robert Bady.

God Don’t Want No Haters ‘N The Church is the seventh song on the album. It has a long intro. Then Ray sings about not hating each other as we all have work to do for the Lord. He’s Able is the eighth track. It is a song about the lengths that God will go in order to love us.

The next song is Things That Make U Say Umm! It is a song that talks about how God rescued the singer from a life of sin and turned his life around. The next song is called Conversation. This is a song in which Ray is having a conversation with his pastor about an opportunity to minister away from home.

Lookin’ 4 Luv is a song about trying to get love in the wrong manner. The worldly things and looking for love in the wrong places will have to end. It’s N The Name talks about calling out for God when you need help or you are troubled.

The last track is Can’t Find No One Like U! The song praises God for being there when we really need him. The singer can’t find anyone to replace God.

Mission K.O.B. is a good vehicle for Ray Bady to introduce his full talents to the world. Even those people who are lacking in faith should find comfort in the words and music of Ray’s songs. And I really enjoyed the Marvin Gaye song.
