What is this Colonial masterpiece?

Welcome Readers, to the ranks of the explorers and pioneers, to the world of 1602 A.D.

The Situation in Europe is utterly hopeless. The cities are overpopulated, and the forces of poverty and starvation are rampant in most of the cities. Decide whether to stay here or go with us to the new lands.

These new lands are where you shall be given all the food and space you need to live a strong and Fun life in the new world of the unknown. Steer your self into battles with pirates with an entire navy at your disposal or go to trade between other colonies.

G.T. Interactive has come out with a grand splendor of a game called 1602 A.D. You decide whether to have poor pioneers or rich Aristocrats at your disposal. These groups are the military units of colonial days.

You can't expect people to get their own food. Build farms, Fisherman's Wharfs, a Hunters Lodge or whatever it takes to get the food to the warehouse and marketplaces of your colonies.

This game all depends upon what you do, not what your 3 AI(Artificial Intelligence) opponents are doing.

In 1602 A.D. there are a wide variety of houses that range from shacks and stone houses all the way to mansions. There isn't just plain farmland either. Run your cursor over a field to find out whether it's suited for Tobacco, Vines, Sugarcane or other things.

Trade for cash or other things. Thing's cost money to run so be cautious when building too many things at once. In order to build specific things, you need a certain type of people For example, Pioneers change into Settlers. Citizens are ex Settlers and then they can change into Merchants. And the Merchants can change into Aristocrats.

You have requirements of development for your people to pass to the next social ladder step. A quick way to get a lot of people is get a lot of wood. Use this wood to build a lot of housing so people will get richer a lot faster. In order for people to go up the social ladder, they need things like Alcohol , cloth and other things.

There are over 700 different landscapes that you can explore and colonize. As you play, there are about 30 specialized trades that can be utilized. These tradesmen and crafters will make up the backbone of your colony. There are also over 90 different types of buildings that can be erected.

When you begin to play 1602 A.D. there are 5 tutorial games that assist in learning the whole game. There are even some really cool film transitions that play between the different scenarios.

If you are one of the people who like to do things a little differently, there is a map editor. This feature lets you build whole new islands to explore.

1602 A.D can be played in a Single Player mode or Multi-player in a network or Internet setting.

This game was a big hit in Europe last year. GT Interactive has chosen a good game to import.

In the world of simulations like Settlers, Civilization and Caesar, 1602 A.D. is a better way to explore new lands.
